Time for a new release?

Thanks for a very useful package!

The last release is from 2022 and while it works I have started to get warnings about "pkg_resources is deprecated as an API".

I see that this issue is fixed in the main branch so it would be nice to get a new release.

Hi Fredrik. I agree that it would be nice to publish a new release soon. Unfortunately, it isn’t as simple as pushing a button, as there are a number of changes that I think should first be made in the supporting infrastructure, including but not limited to replacing Setuptools as the build system with something more modern, replacing Flake8 with Ruff, et cetera. I cannot allocate time for that at the moment, but if someone is interested in helping out with such an endeavor, pull requests to that effect would be very welcome.

I see what I can do about that. I use ruff, uv etc. in my other projects.
